Chair Mania!

Soooo I love reading blogs and I love furniture redos especially chairs! So naturally Ive been wanting to get my hands on some chairs and see what happens. Well I found two cane chairs that Ive been wanting for my house like really bad but I'm scared to mess with them just yet because although I got them for pretty cheap one was $30 and one was $40 I really didn't want to pay that much but they are really nice still and the fabric is still good on them and all that (ugh just had to put Nash in timeout cause he likes to throw stuff when he gets mad but that's a whole nother topic that I could go on and on about)back to chairs... so anyways because these certain chairs are nice and I don't want to mess them up Ive been putting off redoing them. Well lucky me on of my best friends birthdays was coming up and so was the Hwy 70 yard sale! A light bulb went off in my head! I could totally get a cheap chair and redo it and if I totally screw it up then Ill just go get her a gift card or something! Well I had a certain type of chair in mind (bad idea by the way) but I lucked out and found what I wanted but only on the second day I went to yard sales so I ended up getting 3 chairs and redoing them because I got antsy on Friday and was scared I wouldn't find what I wanted so I bought two matching chairs (that turned out AWESOME) and then I went back Saturday and ended up finding what I had in mind in the first place so I just HAD to get it too!

Ok so this is the kind of chair I wanted in the first place but didn't actually find until the second day and after I had already bought 2 other chairs because I am impatient! But oh well I still had to get it because it was only $10! Pretty ugly huh?

Now its pretty pretty huh? Hehe It did turn out pretty awesome and if I do say so myself I did pretty good at recovering it. I was nervous about doing the back of it but it actually wasn't to bad the worst part was pulling out all the staples from the previous fabric and Ill tell you a little secret I didn't pull them all out! Ooooooo I know I'm bad! Anyways I love it but I had to show it first because even though this was the kind of chair I had in mind and it turned out really good the first two I bought which I haven't shown to you yet because they ended up being totally AMAZING and I wanted to save them for last!

Ok here goes.... these are the two matching chairs I found the first day that I wasn't to sure about but got them anyways because I only paid $15 for the pair and I thought they would be fun to recover and not hard since Ive never really done any recovering before and also again because I'm impatient and was scared I wouldn't find anything else I had to snatch these up. Well as you can see they were pretty awful and dirty and totally still in the 60s.

But.... wait for it! Look what happens when you find some really cool fabric and yummy spray paint!!! Isn't just sooo cool?!

I had to show the back to cause its really cool too!

And here they are together lookin all cool and stuff! I wish I had taken better pics of them I may have to take some more seeing as they are just at my friends house and I go there all the time :)

So this is why you shouldn't go looking for something certain because even though I ended up finding the chair I had in mind I also found these other chairs that were kinda cool but I wasn't to sure about them and they ended up being the most awesome ones ever! And I was about to be a bad friend and not give them up and be selfish and keep them for myself cause they were so cool but I couldn't do that (mainly cause I have no place for them and they will look better in here house but whatev) Happy Birthday Robin!

New Flowerbed!

So Ive been wanting to plant a flowerbed in the spot for sometime and I finally decided to just do it! I got that little tricycle planter the other day while I was out junk shopping and that got me really wanting to plant some flowers. I use to work for the campus greenhouse and we would plant and water and keep up with all the beds on campus and let me tell you that was one FUN summer. Then the next summer I got a job at the local landscaping and nursery. So I am no stranger to planting flowers but I haven't done it in a couple of years since I had Nash and I was really having the itch.

So me and Nash headed to Lowe's and let me tell you that was NOT fun! It is soooo freakin hard to shop with a 2 yr old! He doesn't just want to sit in the buggy and let me look anymore he has to be down walking and getting into everything. Ugh. Plus it was sooooo HOT. I was like dripping with sweat after about 5 mins of being out there looking. We ended up being at Lowe's for about an hour and half to two hours looking at plants and trying to figure out what to plant and then after all that looking I ended up just grabbing stuff that I thought might possibly work because I couldn't think because I had Nash running around and whining about everything! Ok I'm done complaining about my sweet baby.

This is the bed before I planted obviously... Its pretty shallow so I bought potting soil to fill it up with.
And here's the after! How pretty?! I'm in love.... I just hope it does good I'm not sure about the big plants in the back. Ive never planted anything like them and I don't know how big their gonna get or if they will take cause they don't have that much soil to grow in so we will see.

This is what the big plants are suppose to look like when they start flowering. I thought they were really neat so I really want them to take!

And then I planted this lovely tub of flowers. Ive planted this same tub before and put in the same place and it was so cute. So i wanted to try it again.

I love this pic with my yellow house in the background it looks so summer-y to me. I will do another post when my flowers get bigger and prettier!
There are still a few more things I want to do outside. Ive been looking for something to put on the front porch maybe a planter or something I'm not sure yet. I also want two chairs and a small table for the spot beside the new flower bed. Plus I really need to paint the shutters. AHHH!
Ok later for now!

Nash and Grandaddy

So I just wanted to share some pictures of Nash and his grandaddy over the past two years. They are so cute together and Nash is just all about his "dayyie" (I'm not sure how to spell it how he pronounces it but he rarely said the "gran" and he doesn't pronounce the "dd") If grandaddy is in the house he is not even worried about his momma lol and when grandaddy walks in the house he gets sooooooo excited! I put the pictures in order from when he was first born up until now and it made me realize I need to take more pictures of these two!

This was the first time daddy held Nash he was to nervous to hold him in the hospital so he had to wait till we got home lol ps. how pretty is my little baby?!

It didn't take him long to get comfortable holding him and napping with him :)

These are some wonderful pictures that one of my best friends took of us a couple of summers ago. Nash was about 4 months in these.

I love this one you can just see how much love daddy has for Nash.

How cute is my little penguin on his first Halloween?!

Grandaddy showing Nash how to drive with his new toy that he got from Santa on his first Christmas.

Enjoying a bonfire and smores together.

Here's more wonderful professional pictures from my talented bestie! How cute are they in their overalls?!

If anybody is reading this they should really go check out Jennifer's website www.jrb-photography.com shes FABULOUS!

Mmmmmm corn on the cob!

We tried to help in the garden but I don't think we were very much help. Daddy likes things done his way and ends up getting ill if its not done exactly that way!
Going through these pictures was so much fun and sad at the same time my sweet baby is growing up! I just love seeing these two together and I pray that they have many many more years together.

Easter Post.... Finally!

Ok so I am finally doing my Easter post. Its only about two months late... oops. I suck I know. So this was my place setting. I love it. I got these baskets at Hobby Lobby and the little Robin's eggs at Marshall's. Then I just cut out some name cards from some scrapbook paper and tied it on the baskets.

This is the main table setting I made a burlap runner and put a ruffle on the end (which I didn't get a picture of) and the white thing in the middle is a pillow sham. I used old plates that didn't match for the table setting. Isn't it great?! Oh and theres my pedestal bowls in the middle! I don't guess I got a close up of the eggs in the bowls but I made them too. They are just the plastic eggs you can buy at Wal-Mart and I cut out strips of fabrics and hot glued them around the eggs. They looked really cool.

This was my other table and there are the chairs I painted! I love this table more because its more my style I don't like the look of our main dining room table because I don't like the shiny oak but hey I gotta work with it.... for now anyways.

Here is the centerpiece for the second table. I got the two thingies on the sides from an antique store (I have no idea what you call them but I liked em) and of course I had to put a couple of pretty flowers on the table!

I made this burlap table cloth and put a lace trim all around it. I had to tea-dye the trim because it was white and I wanted it to look more antiqued.

Here's my banner all hung up and looking pretty! This is one of my fave things I made!

And then I just had to close with some pretty flowers! Notice they are on my newly painted table! Aren't they pretty?!

Ok that's all.. I don't know why that was so hard to do and why I waited so long to write it (mainly because I didn't even write that much)

Sick Baby & Kickboxing

My poor baby is sick :( We woke up this morning and he had a fever of 101.8. And even though I knew better I let him drink milk on an empty sick stomach (I know I know I'm stupid) So he drank some milk and I gave him some motrin and then about 15 minutes later he throws up nasty curdled (is that the right word? I guess I could look it up but I'm to lazy to do that) strawberry milk. Yep it was gross but after that he started feeling a lot better and was up running around playing. We even went outside for a few minutes this morning (don't judge!) I just couldn't turn him down he walked up to me in his pajama shorts over sized tshirt big black boots or "boobs" as he calls them and his cowboy hat pointing at the door wanting to go "ou-sigh" sooo I took him. But when we came back inside he started feeling bad again and had to take a nap and now hes feeling better again so we will see how long this lasts I only hope he doesn't throw up again cause throw up is nasty especially the bigger they get...

Now on to kickboxing! I have started a kickboxing class at this gym that teaches cage fighting and martial arts but by no means will I be getting in any cage and fighting. I'm pretty sure I look like a big ol goober in there with my boxing gloves on trying to hit a punching bag but it sure is fun! And its been a really good workout so far, Ive been sore every night since Ive been going which has only been about two weeks... I'm hoping this will help me lose some weight but that's not really my main focus right now. I'm more doing this to become more active and I like having something to do four nights a week. Did I mention it was Monday thru Thursday?! Yeah so it can really kick your butt!

Crafts for Easter

Project #1

So while I was outside painting my table from the previous post I started looking around in our garage and found these chairs up in the rafters! I was so excited cause I was really wanting some chairs to paint for my Easter dinner party. I was kinda scared though that they would fall apart when we tried to get them down because there is no telling how long they've been up there probably at least 30 years or longer... but when we got them down they really weren't to bad a couple or legs had popped out and the last chair on the right was missing a peg but nothing a little wood glue couldn't fix!

In this picture you can see all four of the chairs I found. Can you see how dirty?! I had already wiped down the middle two chairs and the outside two still have all the dirt and dust on them that's been accumulating for 30 plus years. Ewwww!

Here they are painted. I got different spray paints in kind of pastel colors so they would more Easter-y. I also glazed them but you cant really tell in this picture. I should have sanded them in some spots to make them looked more aged but I didn't have anymore time to spend on the chairs. (plus I got lazy) I hadn't planned on doing any chairs for the extra table but when I found these I knew I had to! The only problem was I didn't find them until like two or three days before the party so I just kinda had to work 30 minutes in here and there to work on them cause i had so much more to do too. But I'm glad I did!

Project #2

What do wooden candle sticks, soap dishes, and bowls have in common? They make a great little project! I originally got this idea from another blog I follow and decided to try it myself. If you go to Goodwill they are bound to have a whole isle dedicated to wood and my Goodwill is no different. I found all these candlesticks, soap dish and wooden plate at my Goodwill. I got the other three wooden bowls at an Antique Mall for like 50 cents a piece.

Then I just used some wood glue and glued the bowls and plates to the candle sticks to make pedestal bowls! Aren't they cute?! And I haven't even painted them yet! It probably would have been better if I had used gorilla glue because a couple of them popped apart when I was painting them but I just glued them back together and they've held fine so far.

Now onto painting! I painted them Easter colors so I could use them as a centerpiece (which I will show in my next post). Of course this couldn't all happen without one mishap. If you haven't noticed the plate one is missing from this picture and that's because I tried to paint it purple and it just totally messed up! The paint did something so weird it got all goopy and then part of it kinda just turned to dust like I said it was weird! So I had to sand it down some and prime it and I painted it white like the other bowl in the back of the picture. I also put some glaze on them but I forgot to take a picture of that so you will just have to wait till next post with all the Easter pictures.
Project #3
I made a Happy Easter banner to hang. I used scrapbook paper that I already had some cupcake papers and alphabet stickers. I wanted it to look old so I tea-dyed my cupcake papers because they were stark white plus I tea-dyed some lace fabric which I will show later.
Here's a little sneak preview. I cut my scrap booking paper into triangles and then the pink paper in a circle. I used two pieces of cupcake paper so it would stick out more. The back piece I just stuck on there and didn't do anything to it and the top piece I crinkled up and then unraveled it so it would stick out some. I used stickers from Hobby Lobby for the letters. I wanted to use stamps so it would look older but they didn't have any big enough. I also used some distressed ink and rubbed it on around the edges of the triangle paper and the pink circle cutouts. I strung it out on a string and hing it up it the dining room for Easter. You will see the whole set up in my next post!

Until next time!
